Job summary

Halff Associates, Inc. is looking for a Graduate Engineer I in Transportation in the San Antonio or Austin area.

You will design civil projects under the supervision of a Professional Engineer and perform calculations for roadway and highway designs. We seek graduates with a Civil Engineering degree (ABET-accredited) who can obtain an EIT within one year, have strong communication and teamwork skills, and are self-motivated and organized.

Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited civil engineering degree or equivalent.
  • EIT within 1 year preferred.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design civil engineering projects under supervision of a Professional Engineer.

Graduate Engineer I, Transportation

Halff is seeking New Graduates who will graduate in December 2026 or May 2027 in our San Antonio or Austin N, TX location. The position will be for a General Civil Engineer interested in Traffic Engineering/ITS Design for roadway & highway design projects. This opportunity offers an excellent career development opportunity for someone looking to grow with Halff, with potential for not only business and personal growth, but ownership in the firm.

What you will do:
  • Design civil engineering projects under the direct supervision of a Professional Engineer
  • Perform calculations and analysis for design projects
  • Assist in the preparation of permit applications and other regulatory documents
  • Coordinate with other team members, including surveyors and contractors
  • Attend meetings with clients and regulatory agencies
What you will need:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering or ABET accredited equivalent Engineering degree
  • Valid Driver's License and acceptable Driving Record
  • The ability to obtain an EIT Certificate within one (1) year
  • Great communication skills
  • Solid relationship and team building skills
  • Self-motivated and strong organization skills
  • 0 to 3 years of experience in Transportation Design for roadway & highway design projects
  • Experience in MicroStation and/or OpenRoads Designer
  • Knowledge of applicable traffic engineering/ITS, and roadway standards and methods
