Reports to: Discipline Manager, Electrical Engineering

Location: Louisville, KY area or willingness to be onsite with 48 hours’ notice.

As a Graduate Electrical EIT, you will contribute to multidisciplinary teams delivering high-quality building systems design across diverse projects, bringing hands‑on experience across diverse building types alongside the curiosity, vision, and passion for engineering and design that defines our culture.

What You Will Do
  • Reads and understands building codes, construction drawings and specifications.
  • Reviews contractor submittals (shop drawings, substitutions, etc.) to determine conformance with contract documents. Makes appropriate comments and returns submittals as specified.
  • Works on small projects or portions of larger projects. Evaluates, selects and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform assigned tasks. Determines appropriate power, lighting, and system equipment in accordance with building codes, and designs building components.
  • Participates in project meetings during design and construction activities. It is possible that some of these meetings may require travel including both day trips and some overnight stays to out-of-design project locations.
  • Performs electrical capacity analysis using established methods and with the aid of computer analysis programs.
  • Designs components not limited to power, lighting, grounding, telecommunications, fire alarm, and other systems per owner’s requirements.
  • Communicates electrical design through building information modeling (REVIT) primarily, line drawings (AUTOCAD) occasionally, specifications or sketches.
  • Prepares the appropriate written specification sections for bidding and construction documents.
  • Assists other team members with project documentation including report of meeting notes, RFI, shop drawings, etc.
  • Actively participates and pursues continuing education including, but not limited to, CEU’s, Lunch & Learns, trade organization and independent study.
  • Operates in a cross‑functional capacity as workflow demands change; it may be necessary to support other production requirements as part of a project.
  • Actively supports strategic goals of the firm, departments, and managers and understands how your actions contribute to them.
Technical & Experience Requirements
  • Knowledge of building analysis and design software for lighting and power calculations loading and power distribution systems such as: Visual, E-lum tools, SKM Power tools.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Working knowledge of REVIT preferred.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills.
  • Exhibits “self-starter” characteristics.
  • Able to properly assess and take appropriate action to identify and solve problems during design or in the field construction.
  • Exhibits a high sense of personal motivation and urgency.
  • Other activities not specified here may become necessary as the Company, position or the marketplace evolves with the changing business environment.
  • An interest in pursuing highly sustainable and energy efficient projects and buildings.
  • Ideal Education, Registrations and Experience:
  • BS or Masters in Electrical Engineering or Applied Science with Electrical emphasis from an ABET accredited institution.
  • Professional registration as EIT prior to or within 6 months of employment.
