Job summary

NYU Furman Center is seeking graduate researchers to support data-driven urban policy research across housing and neighborhoods. Work includes exploratory data analysis, data cleaning, documentation, and developing data-driven insights with visualization and mapping tools.

Applicants should demonstrate proficiency in R, Python, SQL, HTML/CSS/JavaScript, and Excel. Strong quantitative aptitude and prior data-project samples are desirable; 15–20 hours/week during the academic year with up to 35

Qualifications

• Proficiency in R, Python, Stata or similar for exploratory data analysis and cleaning.
• Strong quantitative aptitude with Excel and data-applications (Access, Salesforce, etc.).
• Experience or ability in SQL querying and data manipulation.

Responsibilities

• Perform exploratory data analysis, data cleaning, and data descriptions.
• Conduct quantitative and spatial analyses; create data visualizations and mappings.
• Respond to data requests and review/update analyses; apply new methods in computational social sciences.
• Allocate 50–60% of time to exploratory data work and cleaning; document work comprehensively.
