Job summary

City of New York - IBO is seeking a Data Manager to oversee the data life cycle—from ingestion to quality assurance—ensuring public reports are grounded in rigorous data. You will coordinate with researchers, handle rapid-response requests, and maintain data dictionaries in a hybrid work environment.

The role requires graduate study in a quantitative field or equivalent experience, strong programming skills (R/Python/SQL), advanced Excel, and familiarity with version control and SAS is a plus.

Qualifications

• Graduate degree in data analysis, CS, economics, or related field.
• Alternative: Bachelor's + 2–3 years of relevant data experience.
• Equivalent mix of education, training, and professional experience.

Responsibilities

• Identify, source, and import data from various sources.
• Develop and document standardized data collection processes.
• Coordinate with researchers to obtain datasets.
• Clean and standardize datasets for accuracy.
• Manage multiple projects with tight timelines.
• Support analyses with basic statistical modeling.
• Query and analyze data for rapid-response requests.
• Maintain data storage, access controls, and documentation.
• Convey complex analytics to diverse audiences.
• Ensure data handling complies with agreements and regulations.
