Job summary

Barnard College is seeking a Graduate Assistant for the CSC Computing Fellows Program. You will assist with teaching, workshop development, and mentoring fellows, with a focus on responsible computing pedagogy and current tech-society topics.

Responsibilities include weekly in-person meetings, collaboration with faculty, and creating/maintaining training materials and communications channels for fellows.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching undergraduates in computing topics.
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of at least one programming language.
• Interest in anti-racist computing pedagogy (or willingness to learn).
• Experience in course preparation and management.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and teach sessions on responsible computing pedagogy, workshop development and training, debugging, and peer-mentorship.
• Meet with fellows one hour a week in-person.
• Coordinate with Barnard faculty and fellow interactions.
• Offer office hours to fellows for workshops and course issues.
• Assist with hiring and orientation for new fellows.
• Create and manage a Computing Fellows Slack, help documents, and training materials.
