Job summary

HBK Engineering, LLC is seeking a Graduate Engineer to design electrical, civil, and structural systems for overhead and subsurface utility projects. You’ll own design phases from initiation through construction closeout and collaborate with clients, engineers, and field teams to deliver robust solutions.

The position requires a BS in Civil Engineering (ABET-accredited) with 1.5+ years of experience and an EIT is preferred. Chicago/Oak Brook, IL and Denver, CO offices; travel <25%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering (ABET-accredited).
• EIT Certification preferred.
• 1.5+ years of relevant experience.
• US driver’s license and US work authorization.
• Ability to work independently and in interdisciplinary teams.
• Strong technology skills and Office365 proficiency.
• 2D CAD knowledge including layout drawings.
• Knowledge of remote communication software.
• Ability to ramp up on in-process projects quickly.
• Experience collaborating across teams.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Adaptability and persistence to complete projects.

Responsibilities

• Design engineering systems for overhead and subsurface utility projects.
• Provide creative solutions for electrical, structural, civil challenges.
• Own design lifecycle phases from initiation to closeout.
• Prepare detailed documents using AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, and asset platforms.
• Analyze surveys, atlas data, field sketches, and datasheets.
• Prepare reports and studies for client requirements.
• Collaborate with project management to manage risk.
• Communicate technical matters to management and field resources.
• Manage time and schedule to hit milestones.
• Conduct field walkdowns with stakeholders; travel <25%.
