Job summary

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley seeks a Graduate Assistant in Scholarly Communications to assist with the processing and migration of digital collections into ScholarWorks @UTRGV. You will support ongoing projects, update collections, and collaborate with faculty on special initiatives.

Ideal candidates are enrolled graduate students in good standing with strong written and verbal communication and meticulous attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Must be admitted to a graduate degree program.
• Must be in good academic standing.
• Be registered full-time for the respective semester – nine (9) semester credit hours during the fall semester, nine (9) semester credit hours during the spring semester, or three (3) semester credit hours during the summer session or be registered in the required number of semester credit hours to fulfill the only remaining requirements of the degree plan.
• Familiarity with word processing and spreadsheet programs (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel).
• Strong communication skills (both oral and written).
• Attention to detail

Responsibilities

• Assisting in original processing of digital collections into ScholarWorks @UTRGV , the institutional repository.
• Migrating, maintaining, or updating collections.
• Taking on special projects with academic departments, working with faculty members to keep progress going.
• Developing documentation when necessary, such as processing notes for future workers to explain how a collection changed.
