Job Description:

Summary:

The Graduate Assistant (GA) for Well-Being Programs & Outreach plays a pivotal role in promoting holistic student wellness across the undergraduate campus. Working within the Center for Well-Being the GA will design, implement, and evaluate proactive mental health and well-being initiatives. A central component of this role involves providing direct supervision, mentorship, and training to our undergraduate student staff (Peer Health Educators/Well-Being Corner Support Assistants). This position is ideal for a graduate student seeking hands‑on experience in higher education administration, public health, counseling, or student affairs.

Essential Functions:

1.) Student Staff Supervision & Leadership

  • Recruit, hire, and train a team of undergraduate student staff and peer health educators.
  • Facilitate weekly staff meetings and conduct regular one‑on‑one check‑ins to support student staff in their personal and professional development.
  • Oversee the scheduling and delegation of tasks for student staff operating the campus Well‑Being Corner and outreach tables.
  • Develop comprehensive training modules for student staff on topics such as active listening, boundary setting, campus resources, and inclusive health promotion.

2.) Program Development & Outreach

  • Design and execute campus‑wide mental health, stress reduction, and holistic wellness programming (e.g., wellness fairs, mid‑term de‑stress events, workshops).
  • Partner with residential life, academic departments, and student organizations to deliver tailored well‑being presentations.
  • Manage the Well‑Being Center’s outreach request system, assigning student staff to facilitate workshops as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with center staff to create engaging, evidence‑based health communication materials for social media, newsletters, and digital campus monitors.

3.) Administration & Assessment

  • Track attendance, engagement metrics, and learning outcomes for all outreach programs and events.
  • Assist in creating end‑of‑semester reports detailing program effectiveness and student staff performance.
  • Manage operational logistics for wellness spaces, ensuring materials and resources are properly stocked and maintained.
  • Participate in broader Well‑Being Center staff meetings and ongoing professional development opportunities.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  • Part‑time.
  • 20 hours per week.

Salary Range:

  • $19.40 per hour.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Currently enrolled in a Master’s or Doctoral program at the university (preferred fields: Higher Education/Student Affairs, Public Health, Counseling, Social Work, or a related discipline).
  • Demonstrated passion for college student mental health, holistic well‑being, and peer education models.
  • Strong interpersonal, public speaking, and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Prior experience supervising, mentoring, or advising undergraduate students.
  • Experience in program design, event planning, or health promotion.
  • Familiarity with assessing and evaluating educational programming.
  • Proficiency in Canva or other marketing/design platforms.
