Responsibilities

  • Individualize processes for community partners to simplify collaboration with Center for Service & Justice.
  • Identify, cultivate, and maintain relationships with local nonprofits and service organizations.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive community partner database for transparency and access.
  • Serve as a liaison ensuring professional communication with community partners.
  • Assist with assessment by collecting and analyzing partnership data.
  • Schedule service and community events for classes and programs.
  • Recruit volunteers and support Common Good Initiative activities.
  • Represent the Center for Service & Justice at on-campus events.
  • Create and execute marketing plans for events and programs.
  • Assist with student recruitment for events and programs through tabling and presentations.

Job description

Position Title: Graduate Assistant - Center for Service

The Center for Service & Justice supports the Mount community and our community partners in educating students for just and compassionate engagement with the world through service to God and others. The GA for the Center for Service & Justice works as part of a team to support campus & community partnerships and is responsible for social media engagement for the Center for Service & Justice. The GA will have opportunities for professional development in event planning, volunteer recruitment and management, working with nonprofits and community organizations, and to explore social justice from the lens of Catholic Social Teaching.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support for community partnerships: Communicate in a professional, friendly manner with campus partners for programs like Orientation’s Party in the Park, Semester of Service, Special Olympics Fall Fest, Ox Day, MLK Day, and the Seton Center 5k.
  • Individualize processes for community partners, making it easy to work with the Mount Help to identify community partners for Center for Service & Justice programs and service-learning classes.
  • Identify, cultivate, and maintain relationships with local nonprofit, charitable, and service-oriented organizations.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive community partner database, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and accessibility across departments.
  • Serve as a liaison for community partners, ensuring professional and welcoming communication.
  • Support assessment by collecting and analyzing partnership data to evaluate impact and effectiveness.
  • Schedule service and community events for classes and programs.
  • Volunteer recruitment & Common Good Initiative support.
  • Represent the Center for Service & Justice at on-campus events.
  • Create and carry out marketing plans for Center for Service & Justice events and programs.
  • Assist with student recruitment for Center for Service & Justice events and programs by tabling and giving presentations in classes and interest sessions.
  • Support and continue to develop the Common Good Initiative program.
Volunteer Management for Mount Table
  • Volunteer management for Mount Table.
  • Support Mount Table during evening drop-in hours as needed.
  • Assist with recruiting and training volunteers to welcome guests.
  • Schedule volunteers.
  • Follow procedures and ensure that volunteers follow procedures for collecting data, including recording the weight of food donations and food out, intakes for new guests, and safeguarding confidentiality.
Social Media and Web Presence
  • Create a social media plan for the Center for Service & Justice Instagram.
  • Manage Instagram as an effective recruitment and engagement tool.
  • Keep website up-to-date.
  • Contribute to communication materials that highlight community engagement efforts.
