Job summary

Position Summary

The Graduate Admissions Counselor has the primary responsibility for recruiting, admitting and enrolling graduate and adult students. The graduate admissions counselor will represent La Salle University both on- and off-campus to prospective students and other individuals or organizations involved in the admissions selection process. This position reports directly to the Associate Director of Graduate and Adult Admissions.

• Identify, recruit, advise, and enroll prospective students, serving as their primary contact while counseling them on the enrollment process and graduate opportunities at La Salle University.
• Conducts file review for all completed graduate applicants.
• Accurately maintains data entry in CRM and application portal; including but not limited to inquiry entry, application review, and all other pertinent communications with prospective students.
• Schedule and conduct recruitment related travel, representing the University by attending fairs, visits, and other travel as needed.
• Create, implement, and manage communications, including but not limited to visits, emails, letters, and brochures.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to represent the office and University in a professional manner, conducting compelling, persuasive presentations to both small and large groups.
• Ability to build and nurture relationships across the campus community and with community and external partners.
• Ability to adapt and problem-solve as needed, especially under pressure.
• Highly motivated with a positive attitude, strong commitment to customer service.

Secondary Responsibilities

• Assist Enrollment Management staff as needed.
• Manage special projects and/or serve on committees as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or relevant equivalent work experience in Admission or higher education.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Experience working in higher education or a related field.
• Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of La Salle University.

Preferred Qualifications

• Recruitment or admissions experience.
• Capable of undertaking complex admissions responsibilities with minimal direction.
• Strong customer service orientation and experience in developing recruiting and communication strategies.
• Previous experience using Ellucian’s BANNER .

Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours

• Ability to lift, load, and transport admissions materials, displays, and other equipment up to 35 pounds.
