Job summary

Schechter Boston is seeking a collaborative Grades 6-8 Learning Specialist for a parental leave coverage position running January 4, 2027 through the end of the 2026–2027 school year.

The Learning Specialist will support students with diverse learning needs by providing individualized academic support, developing and implementing learning plans, and partnering with classroom teachers and families to help students thrive.

Qualifications

• Design, plan, and implement individualized curriculum accommodations and modifications for students on an assigned caseload.
• Develop and deliver differentiated instruction, activities, and assessments to address students’ learning needs.
• Maintain and update student learning plans with goals, accommodations, and progress.

Responsibilities

• Provide targeted instruction during Learning Center blocks, teaching executive functioning, organization, time management, study strategies, and self-advocacy as appropriate.
• Build respectful, supportive relationships with students and foster engagement, independence, confidence, and a positive approach to learning.
• Create and maintain a safe, organized, and structured learning environment that supports student growth and success.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and grade-level teams to support effective implementation of student learning plans and accommodations.
• Communicate relevant learning plan information, instructional strategies, and student progress with appropriate faculty and staff.
• Partner with the Team Lead for Support and other members of the Student Support Team to coordinate services and monitor student progress.
