Job summary

The Vanguard School seeks a Grades 4-6 Content Instructor (Math) to join our elementary team in Colorado Springs. You will deliver rigorous, content-rich math instruction to multiple classes and maintain an organized gradebook.

Start date is August 31, 2026. The role offers a 40-hour work week with exempt status once HQ is achieved, and benefits including deductible health plans and retirement contributions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • HQ status required: pass PRAXIS 5903 within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement lessons with fidelity to approved existing curriculum.
  • Teach up to four math classes each day.
  • Provide quick and consistent feedback via graded assignments.
  • Maintain up-to-date electronic gradebook using Infinite Campus.
  • Manage classroom climate and operation.
  • Deliver effective instruction that promotes achievement.
  • Meet professional responsibilities.
  • Model and support students in developing virtuous character.
  • Communicate with parents in a proactive and professional manner.
  • Consistently implement accommodations and modifications for children on plans as specified the plan.
  • Monitor up to two carlines and two recesses or a lunch each day.

Reports to: Elementary Principal


FLSA Status: Exempt


Normal Work Hours: 40 hours per week


Start Date: August 31, 2026


Salary: $32,000.00 - $34,000.00

General Purpose: The Upper Elementary Content Instructor (Math)


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Subject matter knowledge

  • Effectively plan and implement lessons with fidelity to approved existing curriculum

  • Teach up to four math classes each day

  • Provide quick and consistent feedback via graded assignments

  • Maintain up-to-date electronic gradebook using Infinite Campus

  • Manage classroom climate and operation

  • Deliver effective instruction that promotes achievement

  • Meet professional responsibilities

  • Model and support students in developing virtuous character

  • Support the school’s mission through fidelity to policies and practices

  • Create a positive culture of inquiry and learning

  • Communicate with parents in a proactive and professional manner

  • Consistently implement accommodations and modifications for children on plans as specified the plan

  • Monitor up to two carlines and two recesses or a lunch each day

Minimum Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Highly Qualified (HQ) status is required: Successfully pass the PRAXIS 5903 Mathematics within 90 days of hire.



  • Note: Until reaching HQ by passing the PRAXIS, pay will be equivalent to $32,000 annually, paid as hourly Non-Exempt. Once HQ, pay will be $34,000.00 annually, paid as salary Exempt.
