Job summary

Tyson Foods is seeking a team member to properly grade product according to customer specifications while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies. The role includes grading ends & pieces and Covered Wagon to meet lean and slice-count requirements, and ensuring correct packaging materials are used.

Successful candidates will rotate on the line every 30 minutes, communicate any problems to leads and supervisors, and may work on other lines as needed.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in reading and writing; ability to complete on-the-job paperwork and effectively communicate across all management levels.
  • Must have completed Probation Period.
  • Attendance point level must be @ 4 or less to qualify.
  • Selected candidate must maintain 4 points or less prior to transfer into the position.
  • No written warnings/suspensions in last 6 months.
  • Must be in current position for at least 6 months if not a promotion.
  • The selected candidate will be given a 2-week trial period. If self-disqualified after a 2-week trial period and has not been in position for at least 6 months, then will not be permitted to apply to any postings for 6 months.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate issues with equipment, supplies, or product to Lead or Supervisor; rotate on the line as required.

This position is slated for team members who are currently working at this facility or complex only.
Team members interested in transferring into this position from another Tyson facility should express interest through their local HR Partner.

This position is responsible for properly grading product according to the customer’s specifications while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.

Job Description:

This position is responsible for properly grading product according to the customer’s specifications while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. To grade out #1 product, ends & pieces and Covered Wagon ensuring product meets customer specifications including lean and slice count requirements and is handled appropriately. Maintain yields and correctly grade product according to customer and company specifications; knowledge of customer specifications for product being sliced. Ensure proper bellies are being sliced, and proper supplies are being used such as boxes, labels, and film. Communicate to Lead or Supervisor of any problems with equipment, supplies, or product. Work other positions on the line when necessary or grade on other lines. Position rotates at 30-minute intervals; every other rotation is grading product. Other rotations are working on the line.

The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

  • Must be able and willing to stand during shifts as well as walk at times.
  • Must be able and willing to use hands to handle and feel product.
  • Must be able and willing to reach with hands and arms with occasional stooping.
  • Must be able and willing to communicate with team members as well as with management.
  • Must be able and willing to lift to 20 pounds.
