Job summary

Rummel Construction, Inc. is seeking an experienced Grade Checker to set grade stakes and guide earthmoving operations on residential, commercial and heavy civil sites in the Phoenix metro area.

This safety-sensitive role requires reading survey stakes, operating and coordinating with earthmoving equipment, and ensuring adherence to grade specifications. The ideal candidate will have 1+ year experience in grade checking, familiarity with heavy equipment, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• Familiar with heavy equipment and grade checking procedures.
• Ability to perform walking, bending, stopping, and lifting as part of field work.
• Experience with survey stakes and grade references is preferred.
• Knowledge of Trimble GPS Rover System is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Set grade stakes to guide earthmoving operations.
• Observe, direct and control excavation activities to conform to stake references.

This is a safety sensitive position that is responsible for setting grade stakes to guide earth moving equipment operators in cut & fill, sloping, excavation, and backfilling work at residential, commercial, heavy civil, highway, and energy sites. Experience in the use of measuring instruments and hand tools are necessary. They must also have training in marking and reading survey stakes to determine grade specifications. A qualified Grade Checker must have the ability to observe, direct, and control equipment excavating activities to conform to stake references and communicate with equipment operators, supervision and management.
