Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of automotive technician experience with advanced diagnostic work
  • Strong knowledge of automotive electrical systems, wiring and circuit testing
  • Proficiency with scan tools, diagnostic software, multimeters, wiring diagrams and standard repair equipment
  • Ability to diagnose complex intermittent issues and unreproduceable problems
  • Ability to interpret diagnostic data and determine root cause before repairs
  • ASE certifications preferred; valid driver’s license with good driving record

Responsibilities

  • Communicate results and progress to service advisors
  • Complete final vehicle scorecards and quality-control inspections
  • Ensure parts availability for scheduled repairs and flag additional needs
  • Maintain clean, safe, organized work area and lift bay

Schedule

Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM. Occasional Saturday work may be required during peak times.

Job Summary

As a Grade A Automotive Diagnostic Technician, you’ll serve as the shop’s advanced diagnostic and problem-solving expert. This role is responsible for identifying complex mechanical, electrical, wiring, and computer-related issues that require deeper investigation and technical expertise.

You’ll use diagnostic equipment, wiring diagrams, technical information, and hands‑on testing to accurately determine the root cause of vehicle problems. You’ll work independently while collaborating with other technicians and service advisors to develop effective repair solutions, prevent unnecessary parts replacement, and ensure every vehicle is safe, reliable, and ready for the road.

Responsibilities
  • Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, wiring, and computer-related vehicle issues
  • Identify the root cause of intermittent or difficult-to-reproduce problems
  • Use scan tools, diagnostic software, multimeters, wiring diagrams, service information, and other testing equipment
  • Test electrical circuits, sensors, modules, communication systems, and related components
  • Develop accurate repair plans based on verified diagnostic findings
  • Complete advanced repairs involving electrical systems, drivability, engine performance, and other major vehicle systems
  • Assist other technicians with challenging diagnostic or repair problems
  • Perform post-repair testing to confirm that the original problem has been fully resolved
  • Clearly document diagnostic steps, findings, recommended repairs, and completed work
  • Communicate with service advisors regarding diagnostic results, repair needs, progress, and expected completion times
  • Complete final vehicle scorecards and quality-control inspections before vehicles are offered for sale
  • Confirm that necessary parts are available for scheduled repairs and communicate additional parts needs promptly
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area and lift bay
Qualifications
  • At least 3–5 years of experience as an automotive technician, with demonstrated advanced diagnostic experience
  • Strong knowledge of automotive electrical systems, wiring, and circuit testing
  • Proficiency with scan tools, diagnostic software, multimeters, wiring diagrams, and standard repair equipment
  • Ability to diagnose complex, intermittent, and previously unresolved vehicle issues
  • Strong understanding of drivability, engine performance, electrical, computer, and mechanical systems
  • Ability to interpret diagnostic data and determine the root cause of a problem before recommending repairs
  • Strong critical-thinking, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to document findings clearly and communicate effectively with service advisors and other techniciansAbility to work independently while contributing to a collaborative shop environment
  • ASE certifications are preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record
