SpeeDee Oil Change & Auto Service in Dallas, TX seeks an Automotive Technician to service a broad range of vehicle repairs and quickly identify performance issues. The role includes blind diagnostics, heavy line repairs, and maintaining shop safety and standards.
The position emphasizes Level A/B diagnostic duties, use of high-level scan tools, and the ability to perform engine/transmission work as part of a busy shop environment.
As an Automotive Technician, you will be called upon to service a broad range of vehicle repair issues and to quickly identify the cause of performance problems.
Base Salary: $20.00 – $32.00 per hour (Pay determined by experience and technician level classification) Level A Range: $26.00 – $32.00 per hour Level B Range: $20.00 – $25.00 per hour Anything flagged over 45 hours is paid in addition to the base salary.
Blind Vehicle Assessments: Perform exhaustive, ground‑up inspections on auction‑acquired vehicles to uncover hidden mechanical, electrical, and safety defects with no prior vehicle history.
Bumper-to-Bumper Repair: Execute comprehensive repairs on identified vehicle systems, ensuring every vehicle meets safety and frontline‑ready performance standards.
Maintain Shop Standards: Keep the repair bay clean, organized, and compliant with all safety regulations.
Level A Specific Duties: Lead the shop in advanced, blind diagnostics. Utilize high‑level scan tools and scope equipment to troubleshoot complex electrical, module, computer, and powertrain issues. Perform heavy line repairs including engine/transmission teardowns and replacements.
Level B Specific Duties: Focus on rapid baseline reconditioning. Efficiently diagnose and repair brakes, steering, suspension, cooling systems, and common mechanical component failures discovered during intake.
The \"Diagnostic Detective\" Mindset: A strong ability to approach a vehicle with zero information, think critically, and efficiently map out a total repair plan.
Shop Experience: Professional automotive repair shop experience is required (high-volume reconditioning, or dealership experience is strongly preferred).
Level A: Minimum of 5+ years of professional automotive engine repair, rebuilding, and advanced, multi‑brand diagnostic experience.
Level B: Minimum of 2 years of professional automotive repair, mid‑level diagnostics, and component replacement experience.
Must own a comprehensive set of professional automotive hand tools, air/power tools, and a roll box appropriate for your technician tier.
Capability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
