Job summary

Providence Public Schools is seeking an exceptional Elementary Grade 5 English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher to join our community. This one-year position requires Structured Literacy proficiency within one year of hire and focuses on supporting multilingual learners to access grade-level content.

The role reports to the Principal and includes planning, delivering lessons, and collaborating with families and staff to promote student achievement. Immediate start date is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• RIDE certification required: Elementary Education KG-6 and All Grades English to Speakers of Other Languages PK-12.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans aligned to grade level standards.
• Provide scaffolds for multilingual learners to access content.
• Instruct and monitor students using appropriate technology.
• Establish objectives and provide feedback on assignments.
• Manage classroom behavior in a welcoming, culturally relevant environment.
• Monitor progress using data and adjust teaching strategies.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress.
• Communicate with students, families and colleagues in an accessible language.
• Participate in department, school and district meetings and professional development.
• Support instruction and assessments during IEP meetings as needed.
