Job summary

The Somerville Public Schools are seeking a teacher for a temporary assignment from October 23, 2026 to February 1, 2027. The teacher will maintain student safety and wellbeing while delivering instruction aligned to district standards, employing differentiated strategies to meet diverse learning needs and to promote social and emotional development.

Responsibilities include planning, delivering assessments, adapting curricula, and maintaining culturally responsive communications with families.

Qualifications

Appropriate Department of Elementary and Secondary Educator's license in the field or subject for this position.
DESE SEI endorsement required.
Bilingual educator preferred.

Responsibilities

Plans units and lessons and delivers instruction aligned to State standards and district curriculum.
Provides ongoing formative and summative assessments and analyzes assessment data to determine learning needs.
Adapts curriculum and instruction to teach all students according to varied learning strengths and needs.
Establishes and maintains culturally responsive two-way communication with parents and guardians.
Collaborates with other educators for specialized instruction and social and emotional support.
Follows guidance of the Principal and administrators to maintain a safe, welcoming and equitable learning environment.
Participates in professional growth opportunities and incorporates new methodologies into planning and delivery.
Additional duties as assigned by the Principal/Supervisor per SEU agreement.
