Summary

The Elementary Teacher is responsible for the instruction of designated content area(s)/course(s) in a classroom setting within an elementary school.

  • Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance. Physical presence is expected as part of a reliable and predictable pattern of attendance.
  • Support the district’s vision, mission, goals, and Strategic Plan.
  • Engage in civility, respect, and professionalism.
  • Maintain the professional knowledge and skills necessary to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of their positions.
Responsibilities
  • Designs and implements appropriate instruction of content area(s)/course(s) assigned in accordance with state standards, district curriculum, and students’ needs.
  • Creates a positive educational climate for students to learn in an atmosphere of respect and rapport.
  • Creates and delivers relevant and rigorous lessons that maximize student engagement and achievement.
  • Utilizes a variety of teaching practices and methodologies that reflect diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds to meet individual student needs.
  • Observes and evaluates student performance and mastery of standards, monitors assessment data, and maintains student grades and attendance.
  • Manages student behavior using effective classroom management strategies and appropriate disciplinary procedures.
  • Communicates with parents and school/district personnel about student progress and encourages parental involvement.
  • Ensures health and safety of students and protects equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintains and secures confidential records and data.
  • Maintains required certifications and professional development hours.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned. Responsibilities may change as per district needs.
Other Information

Effective communication, job knowledge, judgment, project management, planning, and organization are essential skills.

Certificates/Licenses: Florida Professional Educator Certificate in Elementary Education.

Language Skills: Ability to read, interpret documents, and communicate effectively.

Mathematical Skills: Knowledge of math concepts and their practical application.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions.

Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Physical Demands

Activities include standing, walking, sitting, handling, keyboarding, talking, hearing; lifting up to 10 pounds; reaching overhead.

Environmental Conditions: Moderate noise level.
