Job summary

Bolt Graphics, Inc. in Sunnyvale, CA is seeking a seasoned GPU Standards Development Lead to design and implement a high-performance host-side driver stack atop our proprietary API for a RISC-V GPU. You will shape the toolchain, participate in industry standards groups, and drive conformance testing.

Ideal candidates have strong C/C++, extensive graphics API experience (Vulkan, OpenGL, OpenCL, SYCL), and a track record of shipping production software with technical leadership.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of graphics and compute development experience.
  • BS or MS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Deep understanding of Vulkan, Metal, DirectX, CUDA, and SYCL.
  • Strong proficiency in C/C++ programming and shader development.
  • Experience shipping production software and technical leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of a high-performance host-side driver stack implementing industry APIs on top of our proprietary API for a RISC-V GPU.
  • Contribute to open-source initiatives such as Mesa.
  • Coordinate with the GPU Driver team to implement standard API functionality.
  • Participate in Khronos and other standards groups to develop standards extensions.
  • Run Khronos CTS and other tests to ensure conformance.
  • Develop a development, optimization, and debugging toolchain.

About the role:

We’re looking for a highly experienced GPU Standards Development Lead. You will lead the design, development, implementation, and toolchain of a high-performance host-side driver stack layering industry standard graphics and compute APIs on top of our proprietary API for our RISC-V GPU architecture.

What you'll do:
  • Lead the development of a high-performance host-side driver stack layering industry standard graphics and compute APIs such as Vulkan, OpenGL, OpenCL, & SYCL on top of our proprietary API for our RISC-V GPU architecture
  • Use and contribute to open-source initiatives such as Mesa
  • Coordinate with the GPU Driver team to implement functionality required by industry standard APIs within our proprietary GPU driver
  • Participate in Khronos and other industry standards groups to develop standards extensions that benefit our GPU
  • Run test suites such as Khronos CTS to evaluate our conformance to industry standards
  • Develop a toolchain for development, optimization, and debugging
Qualifications:
  • 8+ years industry experience with graphics and compute development
  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • Deep understanding of modern GPU APIs such as Vulkan, Metal, DirectX, CUDA, and SYCL
  • Extensive experience developing GPU graphics and compute applications and writing graphics and compute shaders
  • Strong proficiency in C/C++ programming
  • Experience with code analysis, IR (LLVM, MLIR, ISPC), and LLVM and GCC internals
  • Demonstrated ability to ship high-quality production softwareExperience with technical leadership
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with the open-source Mesa framework
  • Understanding and experience with RISC-V and vector processors
  • Experience co-designing hardware architectures
  • Understanding of path and ray tracing
Compensation Range:

$175,000–$250,000 per year (California). This range represents the anticipated base pay for this role; the final offer may vary based on qualifications, experience, and location.
