Job summary

Bolt Graphics is seeking an experienced GPU Compiler Developer in Sunnyvale, CA to design, implement, and optimize a high-performance compiler stack for our proprietary RISC-V GPU architecture.

You will transform shader IR into optimized machine code, develop the LLVM-based backend, and collaborate with hardware and driver teams to maximize performance and efficiency. This role ranges from junior to senior levels and offers a competitive package.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Industry experience with GPU compilers.
  • Deep understanding of GPU architectures and toolchains.
  • Deep understanding of parallel programming languages for GPUs.
  • Deep understanding of compiler operation.
  • Deep understanding of computer architecture and microarchitecture, including memory hierarchy, instruction flow, vectorization, and other modern processors.
  • Strong proficiency with C++ and assembly.
  • Experience with code analysis, IR (LLVM, MLIR, ISPC), and LLVM and GCC internals.
  • Demonstrated ability to ship high-quality production software.

Responsibilities

  • Focus on the development of the LLVM-based compiler backend for a RISC-V vector execution environment transforming shader IR code into highly optimized machine code.
  • Play a key role in the development of the GPU execution environment.
  • Design optimization passes for parallel vector workloads and proprietary intrinsics.
  • Collaborate with hardware architects to optimize performance and efficiency.
  • Coordinate with the GPU Driver team to communicate with the host through PCIe or on-board shared memory.
  • Develop host-side GPU emulation and evaluation environments.
  • Develop a toolchain for development, optimization, and debugging.

About the role:

We’re looking for highly experienced GPU Compiler Developer. You will focus on the design, development,implementation, andtoolchainof a high-performance compiler stack for our proprietaryRISC-VGPU architecture. We are looking to fill a range of Junior to Senior roles.

What you'll do:

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Understanding and experience with RISC-V and vector processors
  • Experience implementing an RTOS environment and/or device firmware
  • Experience with PCIe bus communications
  • Experience co‑designing hardwarearchitectures
  • Understanding of path and ray tracing
Compensation Range:

$175,000–$220,000 per year (California). This range represents the anticipated base pay for this role; the final offer may vary based on qualifications, experience, and location.
