Job summary

Branch Civil is seeking a GPS Technician to join our surveying team in Roanoke, VA. The role focuses on layout, control work, and ensuring survey output matches project drawings.

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and 0–5 years of construction survey experience. Familiarity with Trimble/Topcon GPS gear and basic MS Word/Excel is preferred; Bluebeam is a plus. Office and field work with site visits; travel as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency.
• 0–5 years construction survey experience.
• Some knowledge of Trimble and/or Topcon GPS equipment.
• Some knowledge of engineering and survey practices.
• Some knowledge of Microsoft Word & Excel is preferred.
• Bluebeam knowledge is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Physically measures or computes quantities of work and records those quantities in a daily record.
• Organize and coordinate the survey work on the project.
• Responsible for layout, vertical and horizontal control work for all self-performed work using all survey equipment.
• Must be proficient with GPS equipment with some knowledge of robotic instruments.
• Maintain all survey field notes and as-built drawings.
• Assist in setting up fine-grade equipment and preparing working drawings.
