Job summary

DSE is seeking a GPS Modernization Engineer to support the AIR PNT team within the NAVY program office. You will provide navigation engineering support for integration and sustainment of EGI and GPS receivers across multiple naval platforms including E-2D, FA-18, C-130J, MQ-4C, and more.

The role emphasizes transitioning the fleet to M code GPS with assured PNT in contested environments, requiring on-site work at NAS Patuxent River, MD, and a Secret clearance.

Qualifications

  • BS or higher in Electrical or Aerospace Engineering with focus on Navigation Systems.
  • Progressive defense aviation engineering experience preferred, especially navigation platforms.
  • Experience with EGIGPS receiver integration preferred; knowledge of M code GPS modernization is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide navigation engineering support for the integration testing and sustainment of EGI and GPS receivers.
  • Support platform integration on aircraft such as E-2D, FA-18, C-130J, MQ-4C, H-160, CH-53K, MV-22, P-8A, and E-6B.
  • Contribute to transition to M code GPS capability and assured PNT performance in contested and denied environments.
  • Review engineering documentation, ECPs, CDRLs, white papers, and platform integration plans.
  • Support system requirements analysis, design evaluation, and verification across lifecycle.
  • Coordinate with platform program offices and stakeholders to align requirements and schedules.
  • Support test planning and evaluation to validate receiver/system performance.
  • Identify integration risks and mitigate gaps.

The Role

The GPS Modernization Engineer supports the AIR PNT Positioning Navigation and Timing team within the Air Combat Electronics program office at NAVAIR PMA 209 the Navys executive agent for common avionics and foundational warfighting capabilities Youll provide navigation engineering support for the integration and sustainment of EGI and GPS receivers including MAGR 2K LN 100251300351 and ANAV 3MM across a broad range of naval aviation platforms such as the E 2D FA 18 C 130J MQ 4C H 160 CH 53K MV 22 P 8A and E 6B This work sits at the center of one of the Department of Defenses highest priority modernization efforts transitioning the fleet to M code GPS to deliver assured jam and spoof resistant navigation in GPS contested and GPS denied environments Its a rare opportunity to work hands on across the naval aviation enterprise on capabilities that directly affect mission readiness for the warfighter

  • Review and prepare engineering and technical documentation including Engineering Change Proposals ECPs CDRLs technical white papers and platform integration plans
  • Support system requirements analysis design evaluation and verification activities across the navigation systems lifecycle
  • Coordinate with platform program offices engineering teams and stakeholders to align requirements schedules and integration strategies
  • Support test planning procedures and evaluation to validate receiver and system performance against operational requirements
  • Identify integration risks technical gaps and performance issues and recommend mitigation strategies
Required Education

Bachelor of Science BS or higher in Electrical Engineering Aerospace Engineering or a closely related technical field with a focus or specialization in Navigation Systems

Required Experience

Progressive professional engineering experience with a focus on defense aviation navigation platformsExperience with EGIGPS receiver integration and support is strongly preferredFamiliarity with M code GPS modernization assured PNT or GPS contesteddenied environment operations is a plusFamiliarity with the DoD Systems Engineering Technical Review SETR process is a plus

Security and Compliance

Must work onsite 100 of the time at Naval Air Station Patuxent River St Marys County MarylandMust be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance; US Citizenship required due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements
