Job summary

DSE Inc is seeking an entry-level Electrical Engineer I to support the Air Combat Electronics program office at NAVAIR PMA 209. No prior professional engineering experience is required; candidates should have a solid engineering foundation and curiosity to learn defense communications systems.

You will assist with engineering change proposals, technical papers, and integration plans, while gaining hands-on experience with RF, waveform concepts, and Navy systems integration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance; US Citizenship required.
  • No prior professional engineering experience required.
  • Strong base in circuit analysis, signals and systems, and electronics coursework.

Responsibilities

  • Engineering support and development of military communications and weapons systems.
  • Review engineering change proposals and CDRL deliverables.
  • Draft sections of reports, white papers, and integration plans.
  • Support testing and validation, including QA activities.
  • Assist in system integration and performance evaluation.

The Role

The Electrical Engineer I provides entry level technical and engineering support services for the Air Combat Electronics program office at NAVAIR PMA 209. This position is open to recent graduates and early career engineers. No prior professional experience is required. You will work alongside senior engineers supporting military communications systems with a focus on software defined radios including Embedded COMSEC anti jam and SATCOM waveforms. Early work includes Supporting the review of Engineering Change Proposals and CDRL documents, Contributing sections to technical white papers and platform integration plans, Assisting with testing of ARC 210 radio capabilities delivered through Collins radio and RCU software releases. This is a role built for someone who wants to learn defense communications systems from the inside. You are not expected to arrive knowing waveform theory or the NAVAIR acquisition process. You are expected to arrive with a solid engineering foundation, real curiosity and the willingness to ask questions until you understand the answer.

Starting salary range 7500000 8500000 annually

Responsibilities
  • Engineering Support and Development - Support the analysis, design, testing and evaluation of military communications and weapons systems under the direction of senior engineering staff
  • Assist in verifying that designs meet operational requirements addressing both functional and performance specifications
  • Learn and apply the tools, standards and methodologies used in Navy systems integration work
  • Technical Documentation and Analysis - Assist in reviewing engineering change proposals, CDRL deliverables, feasibility studies and other technical documentation
  • Draft assigned sections of technical reports, white papers and integration plans for senior review
  • Compile and organize technical data in support of engineering analyses and recommendations
  • Systems Integration and Testing - Support systems integration activities to verify interaction between components and subsystems
  • Assist with quality assurance testing, troubleshooting and validation activities
  • Support the preparation of test plans, procedures and acceptance criteria and capture and document test results
  • Process and Documentation - Support Assist in writing and maintaining procedures, work instructions and design practice criteria
  • Identify and raise inefficiencies observed in day to day engineering workflows
  • Performance Evaluation - Support the review of technical specifications for alignment with military standards and performance requirements; Assist in collecting and analyzing performance data used to identify risks and evaluate system reliability
Required Education
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution – Degree must be completed prior to start date. Candidates graduating within six months of application are encouraged to apply.
Required Experience
  • No prior professional engineering experience required
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance; US Citizenship required due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements
  • Demonstrated foundation in circuit analysis, signals and systems and electronics coursework
  • Strong oral and written communication skills including the ability to document technical work clearly
Preferred Experience
  • Internship, co-op or research experience in aerospace defense communications or RF engineering
  • Coursework or project experience in communications systems, RF and microwave engineering, digital signal processing or embedded systems
  • Hands-on laboratory experience with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers and signal generators
  • Senior design or capstone project involving hardware and software integration
  • Familiarity with MATLAB, Simulink, Python or C
  • Prior military service or exposure to a DoD environment
  • Existing or previously held security clearance
