Job summary

Aerotek is hiring Heavy Equipment Operators for contract-to-hire roles based in Lexington, NC. You will safely operate excavators, dozers, loaders, skid steers, and other earthmoving equipment on environmental remediation and industrial demolition projects.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of experience, strong safety awareness, and ability to work in challenging sites. GPS machine control and electronic grade systems experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5+ years operating excavators and dozers on remediation or construction projects.
• Experience operating heavy equipment like excavators, dozers, loaders, and skid steers safely.
• Strong understanding of jobsite safety requirements on contaminated sites.
• Ability to read and interpret site plans, grade stakes, remediation drawings, and layouts.
• Experience with excavation, grading, trenching, backfilling, and site restoration work.
• Experience excavating and handling contaminated soil and hazardous materials.

Responsibilities

• Operate excavators, dozers, loaders, skid steers and other equipment safely and efficiently.
• Perform excavation, grading, trenching, backfilling, and site restoration to project specs.
• Excavate, handle, and remove contaminated soil and hazardous materials.
• Construct containment berms, access roads, and temporary structures for cleanup.
• Assist with demolition and removal of contaminated structures and tanks.
• Load trucks with contaminated materials for disposal facilities.
• Support spill response and site stabilization activities.
• Work with environmental technicians and project managers during remediation.
• Transport contaminated soil and waste to approved facilities safely and legally.
• Assist with landfill closures and brownfield redevelopment.
• Operate GPS-guided equipment to achieve precise grading results.
• Read site plans and remediation drawings to execute work correctly.
