Job summary

Akima Mission Optimization (AMO) seeks a Junior Travel Specialist to support a Government Travel Program. You will review DTS submissions and help ensure documents meet Government requirements and JTR.

Strong communication and research skills are essential for resolving travel-related questions and issues. The role requires attention to detail, the ability to work independently or with teams, and a path toward obtaining/maintaining a Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• AA/AS degree in a relevant field is desired.
• High School diploma or equivalent with 4 years of relevant experience may substitute for the AA/AS.
• Two years of relevant professional experience is desired.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and correct administrative errors.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to communicate professionally with Government travelers and stakeholders.
• Strong research, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to interpret and apply established policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities while meeting deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Active Secret security clearance or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Review Government travel documents submitted through DTS for accuracy and completeness.
• Identify and correct administrative errors before Government approval.
• Review travel documentation for compliance with policies and JTR.
• Communicate with Government travelers about travel documents and requirements.
• Respond to traveler questions and assist with travel-related issues.
• Conduct investigative research to resolve questions and discrepancies.
• Provide help desk support to Government travelers and stakeholders.
• Research travel-related information and provide guidance based on policies and regulations.
• Identify travel debts and coordinate follow-up actions when not paid by the traveler.
