Job summary

KGS LLC, supporting Amazon Leo Government, seeks an Operations Engineer to manage end‑to‑end spacecraft health and performance. You will collaborate with flight software, ground systems, and HITL teams to automate command/telemetry interfaces and verify procedures before launch.

The role requires hands-on experience in spacecraft ops, CONOPS, and on-call support, with a TS/SCI‑level clearance or ability to obtain one. You will contribute to mission efficiency and reliability across all phases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline required.
• 3+ years of spacecraft mission operations experience with subsystems including C&DH, TT&C, Power, Thermal, GNC and Propulsion.
• Experience with automated testing using Hardware-In-The-Loop (HITL).
• Active or ability to obtain a U.S. government security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Plan, execute, and monitor spacecraft operations across mission phases including LEOP.
• Develop CONOPS knowledge of spacecraft bus and subsystems and payloads.
• Design and participate in mission rehearsals.
• Provide on-console and back-office support for health assessment, telemetry analysis, and anomaly investigation.
• Develop and maintain operational procedures and automation tools for mission workflows.
• Validate procedures and software updates in HITL environments before on-orbit execution.
• Collaborate with SMEs, flight software, and ground systems to resolve on-orbit issues.
