Job summary

Dallas County is seeking a Governmental Letter of Authority (GLOA) Security Officer to patrol county property and enforce life safety codes. You will operate patrol vehicles, attend trainings, and assist with security for court buildings while performing police reports and coordinating with supervision.

Required: high school diploma or GED, Texas security certification, and valid driver’s license. Physical and psychological exams, drug testing, and firearms proficiency are mandatory.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License with a good driving record.
• Board approved 40-hour training (level three) and certification from a board approved security officer training school.
• Knowledge and proficiency in safe handling of firearms.

Responsibilities

• Patrol and regulate County property and control disturbances and access.
• Respond to alarms and emergencies and coordinate evacuations when needed.
• Oversee screening at Courts buildings and document issues.
• Report maintenance needs and dispatch after-hours.
• Enforce county ordinances and fire/life safety codes.
• Secure doors and extinguish lights during non-business hours.
