Job summary

Dallas College is seeking a Public Service Officer to help create a secure campus environment. You will provide directions, monitor entrances, and patrol facilities to prevent incidents and protect people and property.

You will also coordinate with College Police Officers and EMS during emergencies, document events, and support daily operations with a professional, helpful presence. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid Texas driver's license, and the ability to work

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school, vocational school or equivalent or passed a GED test.
• Valid Texas driver's license with satisfactory driving record to operate a Dallas College vehicle.
• No previous security experience required.
• Pass a pre-employment physical and demonstrate capacity to perform essential functions.
• Operate a handheld radio.
• Flexibility to work days, evenings or nights; overtime may be required.
• Criminal record clear of felony convictions; stable employment history.
• Uniform is issued and must be worn per policy.

Responsibilities

• Provide directions to locate buildings, offices, clinics and general information to visitors.
• Stand for long periods at a post or while directing traffic.
• Patrol buildings, grounds, parking lots, garages, and stairways; report safety hazards.
• Monitor hallways and ensure a safe academic environment.
• Ensure proper identification of personnel entering campus properties.
• Assist with medical emergencies in coordination with police and EMS.
• Write incident reports and report irregularities or emergencies.
• Provide occasional escort services to students, staff, or visitors.
• Ensure facilities access for faculty and staff as needed.
• Operate within department policies and directives and follow chain of command.
