Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Track events, calendars, and meetings at the Statehouse daily.

  • Communicate bill progress and news to members via alerts and updates.
  • Attend committee meetings and sessions as needed.
  • Assist in coordinating government relations events.
  • Prepare routine correspondence for the department.
  • Schedule and support Government Relations staff activities.

Job description

The Indiana Bankers Association supports Indiana banking through member communications, issues advocacy, professional development, and connecting member banks with quality service providers. Through supporting nearly 120 bank members, IBA helps bolster the economic vibrancy of Indiana, with banks providing essential financial products and services as well as community outreach to the areas they serve. Employment with the IBA allows individuals to make an impact throughout the state while building connections with a multitude of bankers and bank service providers. Under the supervision of the Chief Policy Officer, this position assists in the administrative functions pertaining to the government relations department of the association and provides some support to the President of the association.

Key Responsibilities
During Session Responsibilities
  • Track the events, calendars, and meetings that happen daily at the Statehouse
  • Update bills as they progress through the legislative process
  • Assist in communication of bill progress, Voter Voice alerts and news at the Statehouse to members
  • Attend committee meetings and sessions, as needed
  • Assist in the coordination of government relations events
  • Prepare routine correspondence for department
  • Perform general administrative scheduling for Government Relations Staff and support
  • Perform additional duties, as required.
Interim or Year-Long Responsibilities
  • Organize BANKPAC activities, mailings and events
  • Maintain BANKPAC financial records and ensure reporting compliance
  • Track BANKPAC contributions, sweepstakes tickets, silent auction donations, including entry into database, Association Anywhere (AA)
  • File state and federal reports concerning PAC contributions, expenditures and other activity
  • Update fundraising events for candidates
  • File biannual reports, gift reports, registrations with the lobby commission
  • Organize Washington Visit, including setup in AA
  • Schedule leadership meetings
  • Oversee Government Relations website maintenance
  • Maintain knowledge/expertise in lobby ethics and stay up to date on PAC laws and guidelines
  • Perform additional duties, as required.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide some administrative support functions for President/CEO.
  • Responsible for maintaining office calendar and meeting set-up for staff meetings, including ordering lunch.
  • Assist with general office administration and additional duties, as required or assigned.
Desirable Skills & Qualifications

Candidates must have the ability to work quickly and accurately with a variety of data. Must display strong interpersonal skills, and should display a willingness to provide customer service. Experienced in planning and organizing daily work with the flexibility to adjust with emergency projects. Candidates must demonstrate good attendance and reliability. This position requires a working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
