Qualifications

Hours:

Sunday - Tuesday from 3:00pm - 11:00pm and Thursday - Friday from 11:00pm - 7:00am (40 hours / week)

Summary:

Reporting to the Post Supervisor, the Security Officer is a vital team member providing security services at an assigned government facility. The Security Officer is responsible for performing a variety of security and customer service duties, including conducting interior and exterior patrols, monitoring CCTV and alarm systems, maintaining a visible and professional presence throughout the facility, responding to calls and radio communications, documenting activities and incidents, and enforcing required security policies and procedures. The Security Officer interacts professionally with employees, visitors, vendors, contractors, field officers, response teams, and members of the public while helping maintain a safe and secure environment.

Security Officer Job Responsibilities:

• Observes and reports activities and incidents at an assigned client site, providing for the security and safety of client property and personnel.
• Conducts regular interior and exterior patrols of assigned facilities, parking areas, parking ramps, and adjacent areas, including walking and standing for extended periods. Checks for unsafe conditions, hazards, unlocked doors, security violations, mechanical problems, and unauthorized persons.
• Enforces required security regulations and procedures pursuant to Post Orders and or the Facility Security Plan pertaining to personnel, visitors, and premises.
• Responds to client inquiries in an expeditious manner.
• Monitors CCTV and alarm systems and security feeds to identify suspicious activity, safety hazards, security concerns, and other incidents requiring attention. Provides appropriate response in accordance with Post Orders and the Facility Security Plan.
• Answers, prioritizes, and responds to incoming radio and telephone requests from field officers, response teams, client personnel, and other authorized parties.
• Monitors and responds to automated alarm signals and promptly notifies appropriate client personnel, field officers, emergency services, or other designated parties in accordance with Post Orders and established procedures.
• Maintains accurate and timely records of incoming calls, radio communications, dispatches, alarm signals, security events, and other site activities.
• Ensures all CCTV and alarm systems are functional where applicable.
• Reacts appropriately, promptly and in accordance with Post Orders in emergency situations.
• Generates clear and concise written reports of shift activities.
• Maintains safe driving practices and vehicle care procedures as required.
• Creates a positive working environment and strong teamwork.
• Ensures compliance with all GSSC policies and procedures, federal regulations, state statutes, and specifications per client contracts.
• Interacts professionally and engages with client personnel, vendors, contractors and members of the public.
• Specific duties or tasks may vary and be documented separately. The employee may not be required to perform all functions listed. Additional duties may be assigned, and functions may be modified, according to business necessity.

Minimum qualifications include the following:

• Must have a High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license and clear driving record
• Must be able to read, write and speak English
• A US Citizen or Alien lawfully authorized to work in the United States
• Must pass State & Federal background checks and drug screen
• Ability to meet and maintain applicable state, county, and municipal licensing requirements
• Excellent communication (verbal and written), administrative, customer service and organizational skills
• Must successfully complete GSSC Basic Training
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to demonstrate critical thinking
• Ability to project a professional and positive attitude while maintaining confidentiality

Preferred qualifications include the following:

• 1 or more years of experience in the security, law enforcement, or military industries
• Military, Veteran, Law Enforcement, Corrections or Security related experience
