Job summary

General Security Services Corporation in North Dakota is seeking a Security Officer to join our team. You will perform access control, patrols, and monitoring to protect client facilities and people.

No experience is required – we provide paid training and promote a positive, professional work environment with opportunities for advancement. Responsibilities include monitoring CCTV, reporting incidents, and ensuring posts meet policy requirements.

Responsibilities

• Gate Duty & Access Control: Control access to the client facility by checking credentials and following procedures.
• Vendor & Visitor Check-In: Check in vendors, contractors, and visitors; provide directions as needed.
• Observe and report activities and incidents at the site; protect property and personnel.
• Patrols assigned site on foot or vehicle; check for hazards and security violations.
• Enforces security regulations per Post Orders and Facility Security Plan.
• Responds to client inquiries promptly.
• Monitors CCTV and alarm systems and responds appropriately.
• Ensures CCTV and alarm systems are functional where applicable.
• Provides security escorts as required.
• Generates clear written shift activity reports.
• Maintains safe driving practices and vehicle care.

Summary

Reporting to the Post Supervisor, the Security Officer is a vital team member providing security services to various clients of GSSC. The Security Officer is responsible for performing a variety of tasks per the needs of the client, which includes enforcing required security policies and procedures, monitoring alarm systems, maintaining access control for visitors and employees and providing interior and exterior foot patrols of common areas of assigned facilities, parking areas, parking ramps, and adjacent lots.

Security Officer Job Responsibilities

• Gate Duty & Access Control: Control access to the client facility/property by checking credentials, verifying authorized personnel, and following established access control procedures.
• Vendor & Visitor Check-In: Check in vendors, contractors, visitors, and other authorized personnel; provide directions and assistance as needed.
• Observes and reports activities and incidents at an assigned client site, providing for the security and safety of client property and personnel.
• Patrols assigned site on foot or in a vehicle; checks for unsafe conditions, hazards, unlocked doors, security violations, mechanical problems, and unauthorized persons.
• Enforces required security regulations and procedures pursuant to Post Orders and or the Facility Security Plan pertaining to personnel, visitors, and premises.
• Responds to client inquiries in an expeditious manner.
• Monitors CCTV and alarm systems and provides appropriate response where applicable
• Ensures all CCTV and alarm systems are functional where applicable.
• Provides security escorts throughout the facility/property as required.
• Reacts appropriately, promptly and in accordance with Post Orders in emergency situations.
• Generates clear and concise written reports of shift activities.
• Maintains safe driving practices and vehicle care procedures as required.
• Creates a positive working environment and strong teamwork.
• Ensures compliance with all GSSC policies and procedures, federal regulations, state statutes, and specifications per client contracts.
• Interacts professionally and engages with client personnel, vendors, contractors and members of the public.
• Provides excellent customer service

Minimum Qualifications Include The Following

Preferred Qualifications Include The Following

• 1 or more years of experience in the security, law enforcement, or military industries
• Military, Veteran, Law Enforcement, Corrections or Security related experience

Physical, Mental And Environmental Requirements

• Seeing, hearing, speaking, and writing clearly.
• Occasional reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling.
• Frequent sitting, standing, and walking, which may be required for long periods of time, and may involve climbing stairs and walking up inclines and on uneven terrain.
• Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds.
• Must be able to push, pull or drag and adult to safety from hazardous situations.
• Although most work is performed inside, occasional outside activities are subject to seasonal temperature fluctuations.
• Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle for extended periods of time, while frequently safely entering and exiting the motor vehicle.
• Must be able to meet and continue to meet any applicable state, county, and municipal licensing requirements for Security Officers.
