Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field (or equivalent).
• Technical accounting knowledge and training are required.
• Experience or knowledge of governmental accounting and budgeting is preferred; proficiency with MS Excel is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Participates in the administration and development of the budget.
• Reviews and evaluates budget requests.
• Monitors and analyzes accounts and budget variances.
• Coordinates the assembly and dissemination of budget documents and reports.
• Reviews contracts, agreements, and purchase requisitions and ensures availability of funding.
• Projects revenues and expenditures.
• Analyzes proposed financial projects and commitments versus budget allocations.
• Reviews and verifies complex financial and budgeting data to ensure accuracy.
• Assists, trains and provides guidance to Business Managers regarding budgeting practices and the County's financial system.
• Prepares costing studies to support departmental activities.
• Participates in developing budgeting and reporting procedures.
• Develops procedures for tracking financial commitments.
• May provide lead direction and work review of professional and clerical staff.
• Makes recommendations for procedural changes based on study results.
• Evaluates programs and recommends appropriate improvements.
