Job summary

Maricopa County Environmental Services Department is seeking a skilled financial leader to oversee the department's accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting. This role works to ensure fiscal accountability and supports mission-driven financial planning, reporting to the Department Administrator with a focus on internal controls and cost management.

Qualifications include a Bachelor's in Finance, Accounting or related field and at least four years of professional accounting experience.

Qualifications

• Four years of professional-level accounting and finance experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
• A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Assigns and monitors the workload of finance staff; trains staff; evaluates performance and develops procedures.
• Monitors actual expenditures for divisions/programs and prepares summaries to inform management.
• Coordinates the annual fixed asset inventory; oversees billings and performs complex financial analysis for rate/fee structures.
• Prepares management and financial reports and presents technical accounting and budget information to leadership.
• Supports budget balance, long-term financial planning, and fiscal control improvements.
