Job summary

Salesforce is seeking a seasoned backend engineer to design, build, and operate high-scale distributed systems in public cloud environments. You’ll contribute to critical infrastructure and drive AI-enabled development across the stack, from core services to tooling.

You will use Java, Go, Python, or Ruby in a fast-paced agile team, owning services end-to-end, improving reliability, performance, and security while advancing AI-driven workflows and tooling.

Qualifications

• 5+ years backend software development experience.
• Deep knowledge of Java, Go, Python or Ruby.
• Experience owning and operating multiple instances of a critical service.
• Experience with Agile development and TDD.
• Experience with monitoring, alerting, logging and reporting apps.
• Experience with distributed and relational databases; PostgreSQL is a plus.
• Genuine AI-first engineering approach using AI tools.
• Experience with AI tools (Claude/Copilot/Codex/Cursor).
• Advanced prompt engineering skills for reliable AI outputs.

Responsibilities

• Deliver infrastructure automation tools, frameworks, workflows and validation platforms on cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Design, develop, debug and operate resilient distributed systems across data centers.
• Build production-grade software using modern engineering practices with AI as a core development driver.
• Contribute to open-source tech and infrastructure-as-code with Terraform.
• Write microservices on Kubernetes, Docker, Mesos.
• Architect AI-enabled workflows integrating with human processes at scale.
• Develop and maintain system context repositories of designs and standards.
• Critically evaluate code (human or AI) for correctness, security and performance.
• Address incidents on on-call rotations and improve service availability.
