Job summary

Veeam Software is building a global SRE function to support the Veeam Data Cloud, focusing on Government and Sovereign Cloud environments. This ground-up role involves owning the full platform stack with restricted access, requiring rapid learning from code and docs and hands-on definition of reliability practices.

You will map systems, write runbooks, set baselines, and build an sustain reliability practices across the org, collaborating with product, platform, and security teams.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in Software Engineering, with 3+ years in SRE/Platform Engineering.
• Experience with Government or Sovereign Cloud (e.g., Azure Government).
• Experience in regulated compliance environments (FedRAMP, CMMC, IL2/IL4/IL5; PCI-DSS; HIPAA).
• Strong experience building and running production services on cloud infrastructure (Azure).
• Able to learn large, complex platforms quickly with limited guidance.
• Can investigate systems independently and produce clear docs, risk assessments, and improvement plans.

Responsibilities

• Discovery, documentation, and governance of full platform; write runbooks and architecture docs.
• Design infrastructure for high availability and fault tolerance on Azure Government.
• Define SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets; run incident response and blameless postmortems.
• Close observability gaps; set instrumentation, alerting, and monitoring standards.
• Work with IaC, CI/CD, and deployment automation in restricted environments; build release pipelines.
• Collaborate across product, security, compliance, and operations; mentor engineers.
