Job summary

Agata & Valentina, a premier Italian specialty food store in New York, seeks an Appetizing Associate. You will prepare, slice, package, and serve cheeses, cured meats, smoked fish, and other specialties while upholding high freshness and safety standards.

You’ll provide friendly customer service and help maintain pristine displays in a fast-paced environment. The role requires 1–2 years in a deli or gourmet market, knowledge of premium products, and the ability to work mornings, evenings,

Qualifications

• 1–2 years in a deli or appetizing department or similar food retail setting.
• Knowledge of premium cheeses, cured meats, olives, and ready-to-eat products is a plus.
• Able to safely operate deli slicers, scales and related equipment.
• Strong customer service skills and ability to communicate with customers and coworkers.
• Familiar with food safety, sanitation, temperature control, and proper storage.
• Able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs in refrigerated areas.
• Must follow recipes, portion guidelines, and presentation standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly, knowledgeable customer service and assist with product selections.
• Slice, weigh, portion, package, and label products per customer specs.
• Safely operate deli slicers, scales, knives, and equipment.
• Prepare specialty platters and ready-to-eat items per company standards.
• Maintain clean, stocked refrigerated displays with proper presentation.
• Monitor quality, expiration dates, and storage temperatures per food-safety rules.
• Assist with receiving, inventory, and replenishment of department stock.
• Support opening/closing procedures and peak-time operations.
