Job summary

66degrees is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our Managed Cloud Optimization team. You will apply Google Cloud expertise to design, deploy, and scale cloud workloads, while building self-healing automation and ensuring high reliability at scale.

You’ll work with Python and Terraform to create infrastructure as code, partner with clients and Google engineers, and contribute to open-source initiatives. Remote candidates are encouraged to apply, with offices in Chicago and Denver.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years in cloud and infrastructure including Linux, Windows, k8s, networking
• 2+ years on Google Cloud; related certifications preferred
• Proficiency in Python; Terraform experience essential
• Experience with 24x7x365 monitoring and on-call support
• Strong ability to troubleshoot across systems, network, and code
• Experience negotiating SLIs/SLOs/SLAs with product owners
• Autonomy and team collaboration across cross-functional groups
• Knowledge of Agile Scrum or Kanban in SDLC

Responsibilities

• Ensure near-zero downtime via monitoring, alerting, and self-healing automation
• Build highly automated, scalable systems using software/infrastructure best practices
• Advise clients on DevOps/SRE principles including deployment pipelines and HA
• Proactively manage workloads, automate tasks, and ensure high availability
• Collaborate with clients, teams, and Google engineers to resolve issues
• Contribute to documentation, open-source, and operational improvements
