DTI (Diversified Technology, Inc.) is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer specializing in Automation & GCP to lead the design, implementation, and modernization of enterprise cloud infrastructure in Chicago. You will develop scalable Python automation frameworks, IaC with Terraform/Terragrunt, and AI/ML-driven capabilities within CI/CD pipelines.

The role combines hands-on engineering with technical leadership and architectural advisory duties.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) – Automation & GCP to lead the design, implementation, and modernization of enterprise cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have strong hands‑on expertise in Python automation, Terraform, Terragrunt, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and CI/CD pipeline engineering, along with experience integrating AI/ML capabilities into SRE operations.

This role combines hands‑on engineering with technical leadership and architectural advisory responsibilities. The successful candidate will develop scalable automation frameworks, implement guardrail‑driven workflows, and leverage AI‑driven capabilities to improve observability, automate incident remediation, and enable self‑healing infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Automation Framework Development: Design, develop, and maintain scalable Python-based automation frameworks, CLI tools, and operational scripts to manage complex cloud infrastructure.
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Build and maintain enterprise‑grade infrastructure using Terraform and Terragrunt, ensuring consistency, reusability, compliance, and repeatability across multiple environments.
• SRE Workflow Integration: Integrate automation workflows with JIRA, Git, and CI/CD pipelines to enable controlled, auditable, and reliable infrastructure operations.
• GCP Architecture and Engineering: Design, deploy, and manage scalable cloud‑native solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), following reliability, security, and operational best practices.
• AI/ML‑Driven Automation: Implement GCP AI/ML capabilities, including Vertex AI and ML pipelines where applicable, to enhance monitoring, alerting, predictive analytics, and operational efficiency.
• Self‑Healing Infrastructure: Develop automated remediation workflows, dynamic scaling strategies, and proactive incident response mechanisms to improve system resilience and reduce manual intervention.
• Configuration Management: Parse, validate, standardize, and manage configuration data across formats such as YAML, INI, and HCL within automated workflows.
• Guardrail-Driven Automation: Design deterministic automation procedures with appropriate validation, access controls, safety checks, and execution guardrails to support AI agents and orchestration engines.
• Reliability Engineering: Improve system availability, scalability, observability, incident response, and operational performance through SRE principles and engineering best practices.
• Technical Leadership: Provide architectural guidance, mentor engineering teams, and advise stakeholders on GCP, automation strategy, cloud reliability, and AI‑enabled DevOps modernization.

Required Qualifications

• Expert‑level Python programming skills, including experience developing CLI tools, operational scripts, and infrastructure automation frameworks.
• Extensive hands‑on experience with Terraform and Terragrunt for enterprise‑scale Infrastructure as Code implementations.
• Strong expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including cloud architecture, infrastructure deployment, monitoring, and operations.
• Deep understanding of Git version control, branching strategies, code reviews, and collaborative development practices.
• Proven experience designing, implementing, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment workflows.
• Hands‑on experience with AI/ML‑driven automation, Vertex AI, ML pipelines, predictive analytics, or intelligent operational tooling.
• Strong experience working with configuration formats such as YAML, INI, and HCL, including parsing, validation, and standardization.
• Ability to design deterministic, auditable automation workflows with well‑defined guardrails for AI agents and orchestration platforms.
• Strong understanding of Site Reliability Engineering principles, including observability, incident management, service resilience, automation, and system scalability.
• Excellent problem‑solving, communication, technical leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to translate complex technical requirements into scalable engineering solutions aligned with business objectives.

Preferred Qualifications

• Google Cloud certifications in cloud architecture, engineering, or related disciplines.
• Experience implementing self‑healing infrastructure and automated incident remediation.
• Experience integrating AI capabilities into DevOps, cloud operations, and SRE workflows.
• Experience working in enterprise‑scale cloud environments with complex infrastructure and compliance requirements.
