Job summary

Bentwater Yacht & Country Club in Montgomery, TX seeks a creative, organized Golf Shop Buyer to oversee merchandise selection and purchasing for the golf retail operation. You will balance style, quality, and inventory with member preferences in a private club setting.

The ideal candidate has strong merchandising judgment, knowledge of golf apparel and trends, and proficiency with Golf Genius Golf Shop; experience with POS, inventory software, and Microsoft Office is a plus.

Qualifications

Previous experience in retail buying, merchandising, inventory management, or golf retail preferred.
Must be proficient with Golf Genius Golf Shop.
Knowledge of golf apparel, footwear, lifestyle brands, and current retail trends is a plus.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and vendor relationship skills.
Proficiency with point-of-sale systems, inventory software, and Microsoft Office.
Ability to analyze sales information and make informed purchasing decisions.
Strong sense of style, visual presentation, and product selection.
Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team.
Commitment to professional service and the expectations of a private club environment.

Responsibilities

Select and purchase golf apparel, footwear, accessories, and merchandise aligned with member preferences and trends.
Develop merchandise assortments balancing established brands, emerging trends, and lifestyle products.
Manage purchasing decisions within approved budgets and inventory objectives.
Coordinate seasonal buying plans and merchandise launches.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors and brand representatives.
Evaluate product offerings, pricing, terms, and promotional opportunities.
Negotiate pricing and coordinate purchase orders, deliveries, and vendor communications.
Monitor inventory levels, sales performance, turnover, and product demand.
Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with regular inventory counts.
Identify slow-moving merchandise and recommend appropriate promotional or markdown strategies.
Create attractive, organized merchandise displays that reflect Bentwater's standards.
Ensure merchandise is properly priced, displayed, replenished, and presented.
Coordinate seasonal displays and product presentations with the Golf Shop team.
Work closely with Golf Operations staff to understand member preferences and purchasing trends.
Support a welcoming, service-oriented environment reflecting Bentwater's hospitality culture.
Provide knowledgeable assistance with merchandise selection and product information.
Collaborate with Golf Shop to support promotions, tournaments, and events.
Monitor purchasing budgets, retail pricing, gross margins, and inventory investment.
Maintain purchasing documentation and pricing records.
Use POS and inventory systems to evaluate performance.
Provide purchasing and sales information to Golf Operations leadership.
