Job summary

Calusa Country Club in Bradenton, FL, seeks a Full-Time Assistant Superintendent to run agronomic operations on our 12-hole course. You will report to the Director of Agronomy and supervise a 14-person staff.

As part of Troon, a global leader in golf management, you’ll manage maintenance budgets, coordinate supplies, and ensure safety and environmental compliance while delivering top-quality turf for members and guests.

Qualifications

• Degree in agronomy, horticulture, or plant/soil science as preferred.
• 3–4 years of related experience or training, degree preferred.
• Active driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Work with the Superintendent to ensure that the annual golf course maintenance budget and capital plans are maintained and followed
• Supervise and assist maintenance staff in daily duties
• Assist in the planning, organizing, and direction of the maintenance and construction of putting greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and bunkers
• Supervise the planting and cultural practices involved in growing various turf grasses, trees, and ornamental plants
• Ensure that construction equipment is properly maintained
• Assist in the procurement of supplies and materials and ensure costs remain within budgetary limitations
• Keep records of annual maintenance activities and costs and assist with the preparation of required reports
• Follow sound purchasing procedures utilizing preferred vendors when possible
• Reconcile and provide timely coding of all invoices, payroll, and other required documents
• Coordinate snow removal (depending upon facility location)
• Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed including compliance with government regulations
• Ensure associates obtain proper licenses needed to perform job tasks safely and within city, state, and federal regulations; address all real or perceived environmental concerns directly
• Manage department members that may include, but are not limited to: Mechanic, Environmental Technician, Equipment Operator, Foreman, Greenskeeper, and Irrigation Technician
• Ensure that effective orientation and training are given to each new associate; develop ongoing training programs
• Monitor business volume forecast and plan accordingly in areas of manpower, productivity, costs, and other expenses
