Job description

Golf Course Turf Maintenance Worker (Part Time)

Under supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent performs a wide variety of unskilled maintenance and construction work on the City’s golf course. This is a seasonal position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Performs unskilled manual labor as required, along with assisting in the performance of semi-skilled and skilled work
  • Works with hand tools necessary to maintain golf course, spray weeds, mows grass, irrigates
  • May operate weed cutters, riding mowers, dump truck and pick-up truck
  • May run hand power equipment including power mowers, compactors and chain saws; may paint miscellaneous equipment used in the operation of the department.

OTHER DUTIES INCLUDE: performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Knowledge and skill in the safe work practices in the operation of light equipment, power tools and in safe methods of performing maintenance and construction work.
  • Ability to talk and hear in person and by radio
  • Ability to see and read instructions, prepare reports and make repairs.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers and general public.
  • Must possess a valid Colorado Driver’s License. Minimum age 17. Will be required to pass a background check and a pre-employment drug screen.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Any combination of training and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and six months of general labor experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Proficient in English. Other languages helpful.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to perform moderate/heavy physical work and to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally 100 pounds.

  • Possess hand/eye/foot coordination to operate equipment.
