Job summary

Qualifications

• English proficiency required to perform duties.
• Microsoft Office knowledge for reporting and budgeting.
• AA degree or two-year college equivalent; or 3–4 years related experience.
• Degree preference in agronomy, horticulture, or plant & soil science.
• Valid driver’s license and pesticide application license.
• Regularly lifts up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and manage the annual golf course maintenance budget and capital plans.
• Plan, organize, and direct maintenance of greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and bunkers.
• Supervise planting and cultural practices for turfgrasses, trees, and ornamentals.
• Ensure maintenance equipment is properly maintained.
• Procure supplies within budget and maintain records of costs.
• Maintain records and prepare reports on maintenance activities.
• Follow purchasing procedures and use preferred vendors when possible.
• Reconcile invoices, payroll, and other required documents timely.
• Coordinate snow removal based on location.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and government regulations.
• Ensure associates obtain necessary training or licenses for safety and compliance.
• Oversee safe mixing, calibration, and application of chemicals and fertilizers.
• Manage department staff (several roles) and provide orientation and ongoing training.
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance and follow safe work practices.

The Position

Oversees the maintenance of the 18-hole Tri-Mountain Golf Course with $2.5-$3 million in revenue and ensures that turfgrass is repaired and maintained to established standards.

Experience Required

• Ability to read and speak English is required to perform the duties of the job.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or three to four years of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Degree preference in agronomy, horticulture, or plant and soil science.
• Valid driver's license and pesticide application license.
• Regularly lifts up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifts up to 100 pounds.

Essential Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain the annual golf course maintenance budget and capital plans.
• Plan, organize, and direct the maintenance and construction of putting greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and bunkers.
• Supervise the planting and cultural practices involved in growing various turfgrasses, trees, and ornamental plants.
• Ensure that maintenance equipment is properly maintained.
• Procure supplies and materials within budgetary limitations.
• Keep records of annual maintenance activities and costs and prepare reports.
• Implement sound purchasing procedures utilizing preferred vendors when possible.
• Reconcile and provide timely coding of all invoices, payroll, and other required documents.
• Coordinate snow removal depending upon facility location.
• Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed, including compliance with government regulations.
• Ensure associates obtain proper training or licenses needed to perform job tasks safely and within regulations and address environmental concerns.
• Ensure proper mixing, calibration, and application of all chemicals and fertilizers used on the course.
• Manage department members including Assistant Superintendent, 2nd Assistant Superintendent, Head Mechanic, Environmental Technician, Equipment Operator, Foreman, Greenskeeper, and Irrigation Technician.
• Ensure effective orientation and training are given to each new associate and develop ongoing training programs.
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
• Incorporate safe work practices in job performance.
