Job summary

Tri-Mountain Golf Course, located in Ridgefield, WA, is seeking a full-time Superintendent to oversee maintenance for the 18-hole course as part of the Troon family. This leadership role drives turf care, budgeting, safety, and team management to deliver an excellent guest experience.

As an associate of Troon, you will manage greenskeeping operations, supervise a team, and ensure compliance with city, state, and federal regulations while maintaining high standards of turf and facility appearance.

Qualifications

  • Read and speak English required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or three to four years of related experience or training; degree preference in agronomy, horticulture, or plant and soil science.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and maintains the annual maintenance budget and capital plans.
  • Plans, directs maintenance of greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and bunkers.
  • Supervises planting and cultural practices for turfgrasses and ornamental plants.
  • Ensures maintenance equipment is properly maintained.
  • Procures supplies within budget; manages vendor relationships.
  • Keeps records of maintenance activities and costs; prepares reports.
  • Coordinates snow removal as needed.
  • Ensures compliance with policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Directs training and safety programs for staff.
  • Manages department staff such as assistants and equipment operators.

Compensation

$85,000.00 - $95,000.00 annually

Summary

Oversees the maintenance of the 18-hole Tri-Mountain Golf Course with $2.5-$3 million in revenue and ensures that turfgrass is repaired and maintained to established standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepares and maintains the annual golf course maintenance budget and capital plans.
  • Plans, organizes, and directs the maintenance and construction of putting greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and bunkers.
  • Supervises the planting and cultural practices involved in growing various turfgrasses, trees, and ornamental plants.
  • Ensures that maintenance equipment is properly maintained.
  • Procures supplies and materials within budgetary limitations.
  • Keeps records of annual maintenance activities and costs. Prepares reports.
  • Implements sound purchasing procedures utilizing preferred vendors, when possible.
  • Reconciles and provides timely coding of all invoices, payroll, and other required documents.
  • Coordinates snow removal (depending upon facility location).
  • Ensures all company policies and procedures are followed, including compliance with government regulations.
  • Ensures that all associates obtain proper training or licenses needed to perform job tasks safely and within city, state, and federal regulations. Directly addresses all real or perceived environmental concerns.
  • Ensures proper mixing, calibration, and application of all chemicals and fertilizers used on the course.
  • Manages department members that may include, but are not limited to: Assistant Superintendent, 2nd Assistant Superintendent, Head Mechanic, Environmental Technician, Equipment Operator, Foreman, Greenskeeper, and Irrigation Technician.
  • Ensures that effective orientation and training are given to each new associate. Develops ongoing training programs.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
  • Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.

Knowledge/Skill
  • Ability to read and speak English is required to perform the duties of the job (e.g., associates are required to communicate with English-speaking customers or coworkers, and equipment manuals may be in English).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
Education and Experience

Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or three to four years of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience (degree preference in agronomy, horticulture, or plant and soil science).

Certificates/Licenses

Valid driver's license and pesticide application license.

Physical Requirements

Regularly stands, walks, and sits. Regularly uses hands, reaches with arms and hands, and talks or hears. Occasionally climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, crawls, tastes, or smells. Regularly lifts up to 50 pounds. Occasionally lifts up to 100 pounds.

Environment/Noise

Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts, fumes, and/or airborne particles. Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions. Noise level is moderate.
