Job summary

Lonesome Pine Country Club in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, is seeking a Golf Superintendent to oversee daily turfgrass care and course maintenance. This full-time, exempt position combines hands-on supervision with strategic development to sustain a historic club focused on community and excellence.

You will direct mowing, irrigation, fertilization, pest control, and equipment maintenance while collaborating with the General Manager to ensure tournament readiness and optimal playing conditions for

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in golf course turf management, horticulture or Agronomy or equivalent.
Certified pesticides licenses from the department of agriculture.
Valid Driver License.
GCSAA membership preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Turf Management: Maintains accountability for property grounds including greens, tees, fairways, and roughs.
Irrigation Systems: Operates and maintains complex irrigation and drainage systems to keep grass healthy.
Staff Leadership: Trains and supervises maintenance crew
Equipment Care: Manages fleet of mowers and sprayers, ensuring each is operating efficiently and safely
Budgeting and Planning: Provides direct feedback on resources for materials, labor, and capital improvement projects.
Operations: Coordinates with General Manager to ensure property grounds are in playing conditions and assists with course set up for tournaments.
