Job summary

Calvert County Government is seeking a skilled maintenance technician to repair and maintain golf course equipment, working closely with the parks department superintendent in a collaborative team environment. The role focuses on preventive maintenance, repairs, and setup of equipment and licensed vehicles, with emphasis on safety, inventory control, and keeping the maintenance shop clean and organized.

  • High School diploma or GED with mechanical maintenance courses.
  • Six months of mechanical maintenance experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and a current Medical Examiner’s Certificate.
  • Background investigation required.
  • Physical demands include standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 49 pounds.

Job Description

Repairs and maintains all equipment related to the maintenance and conditioning of the golf course while working closely with the golf course Superintendent in a positive team environment.

Essential Job Functions

Performs preventive maintenance, repairs and sets up all equipment and licensed vehicles used by the golf course maintenance crew.

Maintains an adequate inventory of parts and supplies.

Keeps the golf course maintenance shop in clean and orderly condition.

Coordinates and schedules all daily/weekly/monthly/annual maintenance of golf course equipment.

Other Duties

Performs related work as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of-- Small engine repair. Hydraulics. Welding. Electronics. Grinding and sharpening of reels and bed knives.

Ability to-- Operate the equipment required for golf course maintenance. Deal effectively with the public.

Required Qualifications

Training and/or Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent, supplemented with courses specific to mechanical maintenance.

Experience: Six months of mechanical maintenance experience.

Licenses or Certificates: Valid driver’s license and a current Medical Examiner’s Certificate in accordance with Federal Regulations.

Special Requirements: Subject to background investigation.

Physical Demands: Work requires long periods of standing, frequent walking, repeated bending, crouching, stooping, stretching or reaching; recurring lifting of objects up to 49 pounds.

Unusual Demands: None.

Note: Any acceptable combination of education, training and relevant experience that provides the above knowledge, abilities and skills may be substituted on a full-time year for year basis.

FLSA Status: Nonexempt

Compensation Steps

Pay rate: $24.22 - $25.93 per hour; $44,080 - $47,193 annually Grade 716, full-time position, 35 hours per week
