Gives Direction To: Golf course equipment operators and laborers

FLSA classification: Non-exempt (eligible for overtime)

NATURE OF WORK

The Golf Course Assistant Maintenance Superintendent assists with the daily maintenance of the Mt. Lebanon Golf Course buildings, grounds, and equipment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Maintains tees, putting greens, fairways, sand bunkers, shrubs, flowers, trees, clubhouse grounds, and golf course fences. This includes all aspects of turf management including mowing, aerifying, and chemical applications.
• Assists with supervision of part-time maintenance employees.
• Operates, maintains, and repairs golf course equipment.
• Operates and repairs the golf course irrigation system.
• Provides pesticide management and turf assistance at other municipal recreation facilities.
• Maintains the municipal garden plots.
• Must be available to work weekends and holidays as needed.
• Assists with special events when required.
• Maintains regular and punctual attendance.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

• Assists with municipal snow removal.
• Performs all other related work as required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Basic understanding of golf and golf industry practices.
• Clear understanding of golf course maintenance procedures.
• Knowledge of turf management, disease and pest control practices.
• Understanding of golf course equipment repair and preventive maintenance.
• Basic building maintenance skills.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or G.E.D.
• At least one year of full-time experience in golf course maintenance, preferably in a supervisory role.
• Certified Public Commercial pesticide license in Pennsylvania - Category 7, Lawn and Turf.
• Completion of a two-year turf grass management program.
• Ability to obtain a PA Class B commercial driver’s license (CDL) within 6 months.
