Job summary

Sand Valley invites students and recent graduates to join our Agronomy Internship, offering hands-on experience in golf course maintenance, turfgrass management, irrigation, equipment care, and natural area stewardship. Interns work with experienced leaders and team members to build practical skills in course preparation and specialized projects.

Preferred availability is April or May through October 2027. Applications are reviewed as received; the deadline is December 31, 2026, and positions

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a turfgrass management program or closely related field.
• Willing to learn and contribute with a positive attitude.
• Strong work ethic, attention to detail, pride in a job well done.
• Ability to listen, follow direction, communicate clearly, and complete assigned work safely.
• Willingness to work independently and as part of a fast-paced team.
• Safety-minded when around tools, chemicals, vehicles, and equipment.
• Available for early mornings and weekends.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily course setup and routine maintenance.
• Collect and track moisture readings.
• Safely operate golf course equipment.
• Learn irrigation systems and maintenance tasks.
• Support aquatic maintenance of lakes and ponds.
• Maintain bentgrass, fescue, and ryegrass across areas.
• Perform turfgrass cultural practices: mowing, verticutting, topdressing, aerifying, rolling.
• Assist with fertilizer and pesticide applications and record keeping.
• Assist with seedbed prep and seeding greens, tees, fairways, and native areas.
• Help maintain natural areas and trial minimalist maintenance for firm/fast conditions.
• Assist with tennis court maintenance.
• Exposure to cutting unit setup and basic repairs.
