Job summary

OceanaGold seeks a Project Metallurgist at Haile Gold Mine in South Carolina to optimize ore processing, boost gold recovery, and lead plant-improvement projects. The role acts as the technical representative for design and implementation, ensuring safe, practical solutions aligned with operations.

You will collaborate with engineering contractors, review deliverables, and support procurement while promoting a strong safety culture and continuous improvement in processing performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in metallurgy, mineral processing or related field.
• At least 3 years in ore processing operations, plant design, or commissioning.
• Experience with paste backfill systems preferred.
• Knowledge of plant process control systems and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Represent site technical interests during project design and execution.
• Review engineering deliverables for quality, compliance, and operational suitability.
• Coordinate technical interfaces and resolve design issues.
• Support field verification activities and incorporate site conditions into engineering solutions.
• Participate in HAZOPs, constructability reviews, and design risk assessments.
• Provide technical support for procurement activities, vendor evaluations, and equipment selection.
