Job summary

Capricorn Metals is seeking a Mining Engineer to join our Western Australian gold operation, reporting to the Mine Manager. The role offers development toward Senior Mining Engineer and Quarry Manager positions, with exposure to planning, contractor management, operations, and project development.

You will deliver short- and medium-term mine plans, monitor performance, and support a high-performing, safety-focused team on a long-life WA operation.

Qualifications

• Tertiary Qualification in Mining Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum two years’ experience in open pit metals, hard rock, or open cut coal mining.
• Exposure to contractor mining operations and production monitoring.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience using mine planning software such as Datamine, Deswick, Surpac.
• Current C Class Driver’s Licence.

Responsibilities

• Deliver accurate short and medium-term mine plans.
• Collaborate with operations to ensure plans are executed in the field.
• Monitor production performance and identify opportunities to improve productivity and costs.
• Support the management of open pit mining contractor to meet targets.
• Review production trends and implement corrective actions.
• Assist with review of contractor claims.
• Develop dig plans considering pit design, geotechnical, environmental, and constraints.
• Provide technical support to mining operations and improvement initiatives.
• Support mine development projects and budgeting processes.
• Maintain Safety and Health Management System compliance.
